Well the 2 exhibitions at the Graydon Gallery are over. They got off to a flying start with some sales on the first day but that was it! Overall we had a good response and feedback from those that came to visite but that didn’t translate into dollars. People say you shouldn’t judge the success of an exhibition by the sales. That’s hard to say when deep down you are hoping to at least cover the cost of renting the gallery. Oh well, there’s always the next exhibition.
I have been busy painting getting ready for the next series of exhibitions at the Graydon Gallery in New Farm. My new paintings are an exploration of the merger between country and city as well as the city where I now live – Brisbane.
I’m getting ready for the Festival of Sails next Friday with some new artwork. Check out my website for a sample.
Seaside Artists Gallery in Redcliffe has reopened! Come checkout all the wonderful artwork on display. Next opening night Sat April 2, 7pm to 9pm ‘Just That – Big Paper Mache Things’
The Threads of Life exhibition is over with and now time to focus on new works. Before moving on to the next series of paintings I will finish a few that I’m doing for Christmas presents. I don’t often do portraits but I make exceptions for family when I know I have some freedom to play. It’s going pretty good so far. I’m also working on an abstract piece for the house. It’s experimental and different from my usual work.
The Threads of Life exhibition is on now at Martin Galleries in Nundah. Go to the Exhibitions page for more information. If you missed the opening night last Thursday there is always the wrap up party on Sunday Nov 21.

Earlier this year I was all excited about gouache on canvas. After a few attempts I have decided to make these pieces mixed media by adding some finishing touches with oil. The oil medium didn’t have the same effect on gouache as water so it was easy to add depth to the exist gouache surface.
Only the finishing touches are left on my paintings for the November exhibition. Now I can start on new ideas for the next exhibition mid 2011. I think I will take a break from aerials of the country and move to the city. What can I do with the city from above? Hmmm….
